My life in bullet points:

  • Writers' conference in Kansas.
  • Camp Rock/High School Musical
  • Music camp
  • Family
  • Ice cream
  • Waterslides
  • Friends
  • Watermelon
So my summer has been amazing. :)

I went to a writers' conference in Kansas and learned about writing and was also able to form some wonderful friendships. I met author Stephanie Morrill and was able to hear my favourite author's editor, Jeff Gerke, speak. It was amazing. :)

Camp Rock and High School Musical just because they're awesome. :)

Music Camp. I GOT MY VERY FIRST VIOLIN SOLO. Yesyesyesyesyes. This makes me very happy.

Family. They came and visited for a while. :)

Ice cream. WHAT'S A SUMMER WITHOUT IT?! Especially Oreo. ♥

I went to the waterslides and was very brave and did all the scary rides!

Friends because I've been spending a lot of time with them, and watermelon because, like ice cream, SUMMER IS NOT SUMMER WITHOUT IT.

I'll probably post pictures ... if anyone still reads my blog ... :P What did you guys do this summer?

Heyyy.

Camp Rock. A movie I never ever EVER thought I would see. But when a friend brought it over on a Sunday afternoon I thought I might give it a try.

Camp Rock. The movie I thought I'd never like. It wasn't as good as my favourite and cheesy High School Musical, but it was good.

Mitchie's smile is huuuuge

To me Tess seems like a little girl playing dress up in fancy clothes (not like Sharpay from High School Musical ♥) It's hard not to compare the two movies when they are so alike in style

Who can NOT like the typical stereo-type cheesy romance musical?

Camp Rock 2 is pretty good, but not as good. I do, however, WANT THE SOUND TRACK TO THESE MOVIES SO INCREDIBLY BAD. I can't stop singing it for some reason. "I ... am good at wasting time ... I think lyrics need to rhyme ... introducing me ... this is me ..." AAAAAAAAAAHHH!!! If you have a listen to some of them you'll see what I mean. And now they're mixing with the High School Musical songs which are also stuck in my head. I managed to switch from "Fabulous" (High School Musical) to Gabriella and Troy's break up song (High School Musical) to "This is Me" (Camp Rock) without even trying.

Listen to some yourself and see if you don't get stuck on them.

Off the subject of Camp Rock, this hair is just ... wow.

WOW.

Yesterday was a good day. :) I woke up really early because I had a violin lesson in the morning, and then I did school when I got back and practiced piano. And then my sister and brother and I turned on Camp Rock music and sang along and danced (AWKWARD). And then my sister and I pretended to be Weeping Angels from a movie we saw together a week or two ago. And then we listened to more Camp Rock or High School Musical songs until my friend and her friend and her family came to pick me up and I went to someone's farm and played capture the flag with my friend's youth group.

It was a lot of fun. ♥

me :)

Today I went shopping with my sis and my mom and I got really absorbed in my book so I didn't get out of the car at all. :)

My friend and I (we write THIS blog together) wrote a story together via texting about a duck named Thesaurus and a book named Dictionary. I might just post it some time ...

Tomorrow my friend  comes over and we're going to maybe do a photo shoot with her amazing camera and maybe walk to the gas station and back if my mom says yes and maybe (JUUUUUSSSST MAYBE) watch Camp Rock 2. I need to get these voices out of my head ...

Annnd my brother just got back from work. Now if you'll excuuuse me, I'm going to go find something wholesome that has nothing to do with chocolate to eat. I'm not going to edit this ...

We watched Alice in Wonderland for the second time last night.

It's a very good movie. Alice is a wonderful heroine, and I'm glad she gets back her "muchness." :)

I am reading and just finished ...

I enjoy stories about society taking over and predicting you and forcing you to do stuff.

It's a well done romance. Of course, it it slightly cliche that she would fall in love with the wrong guy, but still well done.

So that was my short sweet post. Have a wonderful Easter and I'll maybe writer a longer one sometime. :)

Have a good Easter!!! ♥ ♥ ♥ Living He loved me, Dying He saved me, Buried He carried my sins far away.
Rising He justified freely forever, One day He's coming. Oh glorious day!

Thank you, Lord. :)

The Hunger Games and The Embittered Ruby

I have officially watched The Hunger Games.

Yes. Yes, I have.

It was GOOD. Yes, yes it was.

Question for you: Do you like GALE or PEETA better?

Katniss was AWESOME. Self-assured, but yet insecure, and so PRETTY.

Cinna I LOVE.
I appreciate how he loves Katniss for WHO SHE IS.

EFFIE WAS EFFIE (Effie = awesome).

Seneca Crane (that was this guy, right?) was pretty cool. His beard is dangerous and soooo perfect. "If the games don't get you, the beard will." :)

YAY PEETA. He was pretty awesome.

I don't think I'm biased when I say Katniss was the PRETTIEST girl who got interviewed.

Caesar is cool. He made me laugh SO HARD.

And I like Gale. They chose the PERFECTO actor.

Rue was TOO CUTE. She was so sweet.

This is THE HUNGER PAINS. It made me laugh. :)

(if the movie doesn't load for you, you can check it out HERE)

I appreciated how The Hunger Games was put together. It's a very violent theme, obviously. I cried SO HARD when Rue died. But wow. I wasn't sure whether to expect a "well done" movie, or another Twilight (don't get me wrong, I'm not a Twilight-hater. But I do not agree with the themes/romance/vampire-werewolf thing).

I was pleased that they didn't overdue the Peeta-Katniss thing. They didn't hold it on the screen when Cato got eaten by weird-vicious-animal-things.

I like Clove. Glimmer ... I didn't like so much.

The people in the movie are so evil ... and they don't even seem to know it. My family and I had a discussion about it -The Hunger Games is a warning of what we were, what we are, and what we are to come.

The previews before the movie scared me more than the movie did. They showed clips from a movie called "The Cabin in the Woods" before The Hunger Games started. My friend was like "TELL ME WHEN TO LOOK" and I was like "TELL ME WHEN TO LOOK."

It makes me sad to think that is what the world has come to. I was FREAKED OUT. And that wasn't the only scary commercial.

And The Embittered Ruby.

i love this cover

I don't really know what to say about this kind of book. My mom and I had a discussion about them and I am still at a loss. The content makes me wince.

I'm not saying this about this book (I thought it was pretty well done, though not for someone my age) but sometimes I think so-called "Christian" books can often be worse than secular. People who do not yet know God's love could be influenced by sexual comments/content and violence or language and gather a twisted view of us. Or we might gather a twisted view of ourselves.

I learned more about building a stronger relationship with God when I read Losing Faith, a non-Christian book written by a Christian author ...

... then I did from a "Christian" book which I will not point fingers at for... reasons known only to me.

I end this post with a song. A beautiful beautiful song.

....

I have a post about the Hunger Games movie and a book I just finished coming quite soon, but it was taking so long to write and edit I just wanted to dash off a quick entry about what I've been up to.

Truth or Dare. I played a lot of Truth or Dare the past while with a great group of girls. I was dared to walk around with a sign on my back reading "Whistle if you think I'm cute." Awesome, right? I wore it with pride.

I'm going to a WRITERS CONFERENCE IN JUNE. Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaah yes. I'm pretty stoked. You all know about the collab blog I do that you can find HERE? Well, the gal that I write that with might be at the conference. WE MIGHT MEET. I will also get to meet Stephanie Morrill, the epic author of THIS BLOG and writer of many published novels.

I've been spending a lot of time on my novel, because I'll be bringing it to the conference with me. I also have to raise money. Slow going, but it's going.

I read this book.

If you haven't read it, go read it. SERIOUSLY. The writing is the best I've seen in a long time. Interrupted is such an innocent book, and anyone ANY AGE would love it. We need more books like it these days.

I saw THE HUNGER GAMES with my BFF. woot woot!! Everyone is making such a big deal out of it right now. But like I said, a post about it is coming shortly.

I bought myself a casual dress. I may or may not post a picture of it.

My orchestra has some concerts coming up NEXT WEEK. I'm so ecstatic. Tickets are pretty much all sold out for every single night.

Please read this book. A very good friend wrote it.

Okay. That's all for now. I didn't have to edit this entry, so please let me know about grammatical errors or spelling mistakes!!! :)

A Fashion Goodbye Post

Since this is going to be my last post for two weeks (I'll be on a missions trip) I figured I would do something special. So here is my new dress that my orchestra is wearing for their upcoming concert. My only complaint is that I wish it had sleeves. The colour is beautiful!

See ya'll in two weeks!!!!!!!
